About the Artist
Caroline Ghiloni is a candidate in the BFA program at Texas A&M University of Corpus Christi. Through her practices in tie dye, printmaking and sculpture she is working toward the ultimate career goal of working as a fine arts professor with the capacity to travel nationally and internationally.
Caroline grew up in Brownsville, Texas and works to express her ties to the culture of the deep Rio Grande Valley in her works. Her concept interests surround the deeply intertwined imagery of the poverty line, blue collar working culture, addiction and fishing. She seeks to understand and create works that display the effect of blue collar trades on the body and mind, and how capitalism influences the cycle that enforces generational poverty in the American South.
Caroline’s commitment to life-long learning includes working in the education department of The Art Center of Corpus Christi, a majority Hispanic serving non-profit organization in Corpus Christi, Texas.
